Dosh Nivaran Puja & Astrology Remedies

A dosh nivaran puja is a traditional Vedic ritual performed to calm the effects of a difficult planetary combination in your chart. But not every dosh needs a puja — and many aren't even active. Narinder first checks your kundli to confirm whether a dosh exists, how strong it is and whether it's cancelled. Then he suggests the simplest remedy that fits: mantra, daan, fasting or lifestyle changes first, and a puja only when your chart clearly calls for it.

Our Approach to Astrology Remedies

Remedies should make life lighter, not heavier. Narinder follows three steps: confirm the dosh, start with simple remedies, and recommend a puja only if it's truly needed.

  1. Confirm the dosh from your actual chart. Many doshas are partial, weak or cancelled by other placements.
  2. Simple remedies first. Mantra jaap, daan (charity), vrat (fasting) and small daily habits — things you can do yourself at little or no cost.
  3. Puja only when needed — explained clearly, with the process and cost shared upfront.

Remedies are traditional spiritual practices. They are not a substitute for medical, legal or financial advice, and no specific outcome can be promised.

Doshas We Help With

The most common doshas people ask about are manglik, kaal sarp, pitra and Saturn-related periods like Sade Sati. Each is checked from your chart before any remedy is suggested.

Manglik dosh

Formed when Mars occupies certain houses (commonly the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th) from the ascendant, Moon or Venus. It mainly concerns marriage. It is often reduced or cancelled by other placements, and is traditionally balanced when both partners are manglik. See Kundli Matching.

Kaal sarp dosh

Formed when all seven planets from the Sun to Saturn fall on one side of the Rahu–Ketu axis. If even one planet is outside, it's considered partial (anshik). There are 12 types, named by Rahu's house — Anant, Kulik, Vasuki, Shankhpal, Padma, Mahapadma, Takshak, Karkotak, Shankhachood, Ghatak, Vishdhar and Sheshnag. Its intensity depends on the whole chart and is usually felt most during Rahu or Ketu periods.

Pitra dosh

Linked to ancestral karma, commonly read from afflictions to the Sun, the 9th house or its lord by Rahu, Ketu or Saturn. Remedies usually include shraddh rituals, tarpan and daan during Pitru Paksha.

Sade Sati and Shani dhaiya

Sade Sati is the roughly 7½-year period when Saturn transits the sign before, the sign of, and the sign after your Moon sign. Shani dhaiya is a 2½-year period when Saturn transits the 4th or 8th sign from your Moon. These periods are often demanding but not always negative — the effect depends on Saturn's role in your chart. See Kundli Reading to check your current period.

Grahan dosh and weak planets

Grahan dosh is formed when the Sun or Moon is closely joined with Rahu or Ketu. Separately, any planet that is weak or afflicted and rules important houses may need support — through mantra, daan or, if suitable, a gemstone.

How a Dosh Nivaran Puja Is Done

A dosh nivaran puja follows a set Vedic sequence and is performed with your name and gotra in the sankalp.

A typical sequence:

  1. Sankalp — stating your name, gotra and purpose
  2. Ganesh puja and Navgraha puja
  3. Specific dosh puja — for example Rahu–Ketu worship for kaal sarp dosh
  4. Mantra jaap and havan
  5. Aarti and daan

Pujas are arranged online — you don't need to travel; the sankalp is taken in your name and gotra. Narinder explains the process, duration and cost before anything is booked.

Dosh Myths vs Facts

Fear around doshas usually comes from incomplete information. Here's what classical astrology actually says.

MythFact
"Manglik means the marriage will fail."Manglik dosh is often cancelled or balanced, and many manglik marriages are happy.
"Kaal sarp dosh ruins your whole life."Its effect depends on the full chart; many people with it are very successful.
"Every problem comes from a dosh."Life has many causes. A dosh is one factor, not the explanation for everything.
"Only an expensive puja can fix it."Simple, consistent remedies are often enough. A puja is one option, not the only one.
"A remedy works instantly."Remedies work gradually and depend on your dasha and consistency.

Dosh Nivaran Puja FAQs

Is every dosh dangerous?
No. Many doshas are mild, partial or cancelled by other placements. Your chart must be checked before any remedy.
Do I need an expensive puja?
Usually not. Most situations are handled with simple remedies like mantra, daan and fasting. A puja is suggested only when clearly needed, and it's always your choice.
Is kaal sarp dosh real?
It is a recognised combination in many astrological traditions, though not in all classical texts. Its effect depends on the whole chart, so it shouldn't be judged in isolation.
What are the remedies for manglik dosh?
First check whether it's active or cancelled. If needed, remedies include Mars mantras, Tuesday fasting or daan, Hanuman worship and, in some cases, a puja before marriage.
What should I do during Sade Sati?
Stay disciplined and patient, follow Saturn's simple remedies like mantra and Saturday daan, and avoid big risky decisions without checking your chart.
How long do remedies take to work?
Remedies work gradually and depend on your running dasha. Consistency matters more than intensity.
Can someone else do the remedy for me?
Some remedies, like a puja, can be done in your name by family or a priest. Personal practices such as mantra are best done yourself.
Can a dosh be removed completely?
The planetary placement in your birth chart doesn't change. Remedies aim to reduce difficult effects and support you through challenging periods.
What is pitra dosh?
Pitra dosh is a chart pattern traditionally linked to unresolved ancestral karma, usually seen through the Sun, Rahu and the 9th house. Common remedies are shraddha, tarpan and seva in the name of ancestors.
How do I know if I have a dosh in my kundli?
Get your chart checked with an exact birth time. Online calculators often flag a dosh without checking the rules that cancel it, so many people worry about doshas that are not active.
Is Shani dhaiya the same as sade sati?
No. Sade sati is Saturn's 7.5-year transit over the 12th, 1st and 2nd signs from your Moon sign. Dhaiya is its 2.5-year transit over the 4th or 8th sign. Read our guide: Sade Sati Kya Hai?
